Entry-Level Copy Editor

Overview

Expected Compensation: 28.00 USD Per Hour
HireArt is helping a global leader in AI development hire people with excellent copy editing skills to train generative artificial intelligence models to become better writers.
In this role, you'll become an AI writing generalist by completing copy editing and writing tasks for specific, high-priority customer projects and reviewing work done by others.
We are looking for creative people who can quickly draft high-quality, accurate copy. Writers, editors, proofreaders, educators, researchers, and people with writing-oriented degrees are highly encouraged to apply. This is also an excellent opportunity for recent grads and people looking to re-enter the workforce.

Responsibilities

• Work on various writing/reading projects to train generative AI models.

• Create original and challenging prompts for an AI model to respond to.

• Rank a series of responses produced by an AI model.

• Write a short story based on a given topic.

• Assess whether a piece of text produced by an AI model is factually accurate or not.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR equivalent, relevant writing-centric experience

• Excellent command of the English language and its grammar rules

• Ability to address and review sensitive, harmful, and/or graphic material

• Local to Southlake, TX, and open to working in-person 40 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in one of the following areas:

  • Animators

  • Coding

  • Cybersecurity, penetration testing, or digital forensics

  • Education

  • Professional Writing (e.g., copywriter, journalist, technical writer, editor, translator, instructional designer)

  • Social Work or Mental Health

• Additional valued backgrounds:

  • Background in online community/content moderation or gaming communities

  • Deep knowledge of internet subcultures and emerging digital trends

  • Experience in crisis counseling, trauma-informed care, or working with vulnerable populations

  • Creative backgrounds like fan fiction writing

  • Interest in AI/ML technology

Commitment

This is a full-time, on-going contract position staffed via HireArt with the potential to extend. It is onsite and available to candidates local to the Southlake, TX area.
